20060826 - Petronas PRIMAX 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance 2006 : 2006 MERDEKA MILLENNIUM ENDURANCE RACE THE CHALLENGE To survive the 12 hours of grueling challenge of non stop racing and to secure the most number of laps around the world famous F1 racing circuit. Only those who finished the full race will be classified. THE RACE FORMAT Three drivers to a car and they take turns accordingly to the race regulations to complete 12 hours of non stop racing around the 5.543-km Sepang Circuit. Each driver can only drive a maximum of 75 minutes per session and they must rest at least two-thirds of the driving time before taking another drive. The maximum cumulative driving time for each driver is 5 hours. QUALFYING FORMAT All teams will need to qualify and only the fastest 77 will start according to the quota in their respective classes in Class O, Class A, Class B and from Class C – 25 cars from a combined Class A and the open class; and 26 each from Class B and Class C. The grid position will be based accordingly on the basis on the fastest aggregate time of each car. THE CLASSES CLASS O – The open class and grouping the Super Touring 2000 Cars; N-GT cars; GT cars and National Series Production Cars above 1900cc. CLASS A – Group N Cars; Group A Cars above 1900cc; Group B Cars; Group B cars; Super Production Cars and National Series Production Cars above 1900cc. CLASS B – Group N Cars between 1601cc – 1900cc; Group A Cars between 1601cc to 1900cc and the National Series Production Cars 1601cc to 1900cc. CLASS C – Group N Cars 1600cc; Group A Cars 1600cc and National Series Production Cars 1600cc

Drifting is a way of driving that force the rear tires and/or all 4 tires slide while controlling the pass of forward motion. The steering wheel is turning to the same side of the sliding direction, and drivers are to control the vehicle in extreme speed, often exceeding 120mph, and driving conditions. Drifting is an extremely difficult driving style that requires high level of skills and techniques. It's very amusing to watch each driver's performance as well. In addition, unlike Rally and other motor sports, the determination of winner/loser is largely based on driver's skill instead of the machine advantages. D1 Grand Prix is all about the rivalry of each driver's drifting skill.
